Are you trying to reverse the aging process by targeting your saggy, wrinkled skin? Me, too! Perhaps you need some advice to find the right skin care anti wrinkle cream. Well, since we’re on the same journey, maybe I can help.

Today, I was innocently watching a Halloween classic on TV when, unexpectedly, I was struck by a commercial for a skin care anti wrinkle cream. It was for L’Oreal’s Revitalift Cream. So, being a typical multi-tasker (avid TV watcher/internet browser), I immediately started searching for information on this product and any relevant user reviews. The results were… well, somewhat disappointing.

Like so many similar anti wrinkle creams and lotions that can be conveniently purchased off the shelf at the local drugstore, the feedback on this particular product was less than impressive. One of the reviewers said that it does hydrate and improve wrinkle appearance, but has no lifting effect whatsoever.

Another said that it was completely counterproductive, made wrinkle appearance more pronounced and was a total waste of $14.99. On another site, it received a 2.7 out of 5 as an overall rating. Complaints included an overwhelming fragrance, adverse effects such as stingy eyes and acne breakouts, and the list went on.

Although some of the feedback was good, I’m not sure I would want to take a chance with this kind of product. Aside from the countless complaints that it was simply not effective, the red flag for me was mention of the odor. Fragrances are often used in anti wrinkle creams and lotions.

If you have even the most basic knowledge of wrinkle creams, you know that these are commonly used in the production of wrinkle creams because a) they are cheap and b) they give the consumer the illusion that they are getting a superior product. Unfortunately, this is a deceitful technique that manufacturers use to attract consumers.

Further research on my part confirmed my looming suspicions on this skin care anti wrinkle cream – a low concentration of active ingredients, the presence of fragrances and other harmful ingredients, including benzyl alcohol.

When choosing a skin care anti wrinkle cream, first and foremost, be sure that it does not contain any harmful ingredients e.g. fragrances, nitrosamines, phenol carbolic acid. Next, look for the percentage of active ingredients. Many cheap over-the-counter creams pick one or two to brag about, but upon reading the 4-pt font on the ingredient label, you will discover a very low concentration of such ingredients.

This is why they are able to retail for such an attractively low price. Finally, look for something that is scientifically formulated in such a way that all of its ingredients work in synergy with one another, creating the ultimate and most effective product.

Remember, just because it is convenient to purchase a skin care anti wrinkle cream off the shelf at Walgreen’s doesn’t mean it’s worth the $10 or $15.

And just because Andy McDowell and other such beautiful celebrities make an appearance on their commercials, doesn’t mean that you will look as they do on TV. Having realistic expectations and keeping these tips in mind during your search will prove invaluable.
